(THIS VIDEO IS A FEW OF MY DAUGHTER LYRIC'S 2009 SOFTBALL HIGHLIGHT PICS IN VIRGINIA AT AGE 12. THANKS TO THE MADISON COACHES, THEY MADE HISTORY)
I can proudly say that I am happy to have been raised in the town of Madison, Florida, because due to all of the struggles, there are a lot of talented young people that are beginning to make a change. Madison doesn’t give you anything, you have to earn it and that is the best thing about my Hometown. The old saying is “If you give a man a fish, he will eat for a day, but if you teach him how to fish for himself he will eat for a lifetime’. A lot of the people in Madison are business oriented and that number is rising yearly. We have a loving community college with loving and caring faculty and staff, that takes pride in the reshaping of a persons mind whether their young or old. We have one of the best high school football programs (Cowboys) that’s beginning to set a lot of the young men up for a bright future. There is so much more that I can say about my Hometown now than I could back in the days because I now look at life a lot differently. There are so many activities for young girls and boys to get involved in because of our concerned adults who volunteer their time to keep them going. (Becky's dance studios is a great place for young girls to perform ballet, my daughter attended there for 6 years and Mrs. Becky is a true role Model therefore she is considered "Royalty", if you are planning to move to Madison with your little daughter, you would not regret placing her in Beaky's Dance Steps -850-973-4828)/(Miss Madison Pageant for young girls is another avenue for young ladies to stay engaged)(Miss Jr. and Miss Essence Pageant of Madison County for girls was Created and organized by our very own Pastor Oliver Bradely, where there, young ladies let there crowns shine)(Dave Galbraith pee-wee football league, where there Justin Burk is the president and the young men are loved and well coached to not only be the best at football but to be the best in life)(Babe Ruth baseball and softball. My daughter have played in that league for 4 years as well and boy do they have a good turn out every season.)MYI, Madison Youth Initiative is a brand new program for all of our youth thats lead by Director Adrian Kinsey in attempt to keep our youth on the right track.) There is so much more for young people to do that i have not mentioned, but the parents have gotten to be willing to get out there and make it happen. This is a blessed community that’s making things happen for the best. To all of my Madison people, let’s continue to stay on the grind because it is not the Town of Madison that makes us, it’s us who makes Madison who she is.(Picture on Left is Merv, my little man TJ and my fighting Lions/ Picture on right is my assistant coach Jake Siplin and my lions getting ready for another victory) I thank God for giving me the time, the finances, the passion, the patience and the love for giving back to the young men. I have been coaching the lions for the past three years, and in 2008 I was able to sponsor them myself with the help of God and all of the supporters that made my book a best seller. I had the best offensive coordinator ever, my Dad Curtis Mattair and the two most pumped up assistant coaches, Dee-Wee Phillips and Jake Siplin. We had the best record in Madison and ended the season #1. The Lions were not only taught football, but the importance of respect, self control, discipline, education, etc. For anyone who is putting time in with our youth in the community, keep it up because your time and efforts are not in vain, I am a witness. When it starts to hurt, just think back to when you were young and how you so desired to have an adult male take time out with you. These boys will never forget this. Lions Motto "Hit, Hit, and Hit some more"
